Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you’re right.”

Henry Ford was an innovator and a big advocate for peace. An innovator is someone who takes someones idea or invention and further improves upon it. Ford, of course, wasn’t always the brilliant young man he grew to be, in fact, he was born into a well to do family on a farm in Michigan run by his father William Ford, Esq. Even at a young age Ford found great interest in the power of steam and mechanics starting with many foolish experiments that one day would lead to a revolution. He deeply believed that world peace could be created from consumerism.

This isn’t about that story though it’s about the contemplation of what Henry Ford meant when he said this famous quote. In the simplest form this quote means that belief is what will most greatly affect your results. An example of this that applies to Henry Ford is in his life’s work. Henry Ford wanted to make automobiles since the first time he saw one. Young Ford never gave up on that dream and spent his life pursuing it. Henry Ford not only succeeded in making his own automobiles he raced them too. Eventually Henry Ford made one of the most popular selling cars in his time.

In my own experiences an example of what describes this quote is a simple and suitable one. Pull ups are the example. The moment I touch the bar. I think of a number in my head and by doing so create a limit which doesn’t prevent me from doing more, but in the mind creates an illusion that I can’t or won’t do more. This affect is far more profound than many may realize it is and is a crucial factor to personal success.
